Expected Behavior

In this section, you’ll find the expected behavior of some Seclore components that’ll help you provide support to your end users.

Seclore for Windows

Microsoft Office 2013	Embedding unprotected documents inside a protected document	To embed unprotected documents inside a protected document, you need to have Full Control permission on the protected document.
Microsoft Office 2013	Embedding protected documents inside another document	A protected document cannot be embedded inside any document (protected or unprotected).
Microsoft Office	Auto recovery and Auto save features not available	To strengthen security, ‘auto recovery’ and ‘auto save’ features are disabled for all documents.
Microsoft Office	Email via Quick Access Toolbar	To strengthen security, we’ve disabled the option to send emails using the Email button in the Quick Access Toolbar.
Microsoft Office	Share options	To strengthen security, we’ve disabled the ‘Share’ option in protected Office files.
Microsoft Excel	Excel 2003 shortcuts	To strengthen security, Excel 2003 shortcuts are disabled. Shortcuts in Excel 2007 and above will continue to work.
Microsoft Excel	Workbook sharing	To strengthen security, the ‘Share Workbook’ feature is disabled for protected documents.
Microsoft Office	Hyperlinks (doc, xls, ppt only)	Hyperlinks added in protected documents of specific formats (doc, xls, ppt) will not work as expected.
Adobe Reader	HTML-wrapping won't work while creating Adobe files using 'Save As'	File B created through ‘Save As' option used in File A will be HTML-wrapped. However, File C created through 'Save As' option used in File B won’t be HTML-wrapped.
Adobe Reader	PDFs won't open if an application to open them is not selected while exporting	PDFs won't open when Microsoft Office, Libre Office, and Open Office files are exported to PDF, without selecting an application for opening them.
Microsoft Office	Protected HTML-wrapped CSV files opens in background	Protected HTML wrapped CSV files opens in background when opened from cmd or PowerShell.
Libre Office	HTML-wrapping delayed in Libre Office files	HTML-wrapping gets delayed in Libre Office protected files when performing 'Save AS', 'Export directly as PDF', and 'Export as PDF'.

Seclore Online (opening files in browser)

Lite Online Viewer	Smart Art (Office documents)	Smart art, Word Art, and shapes may not be displayed properly.
Lite Online Viewer	Clicking on objects (Office documents)	Inserted objects are converted to images.
Lite Online Editor	OLE embedded objects within documents are converted to images	OLE Embedded objects within documents are shown as images instead of objects. Editing and saving such documents would convert such objects to an image format. Therefore, the object properties would be lost.
Lite Online Editor	Hyperlinks	Hyperlinks are not clickable when the document is saved.
Lite Online Editor	Keyboard shortcuts for copying data may not work for all browsers	Users with Copy Data permission can't copy data from one document to another. For copying and pasting data within the document itself, keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) may not work for all browsers - but right-click menu options can be used for copying and pasting data.
Lite Online Editor	Browser Back button not supported	When a protected document is open in the Lite Online Editor, the browser's 'back' button is not supported.
Lite Online Editor	Pivot tables	Pivot tables are not supported. Existing pivot tables will be converted to normal tables when the document is saved.
Lite Online Viewer	Comments remain highlighted even after being resolved	When comments on a protected file/email are resolved using the Seclore for mobile apps, the comments remain highlighted when viewed through the mobile app.

Seclore for Microsoft 365

SharePoint Online	Minor versioning (draft)	Files will not get protected in the draft mode (Minor Version).
SharePoint Online	Modified by' value appears inaccurately	If a file is uploaded to SharePoint Online by a guest contributor and gets automatically protected, the 'Modified By' field does not change to 'Guest Contributor'. It remains 'SharePoint App'.
SharePoint Online	Check in/Check Out comments and Approval comments of unprotected versions get deleted	Once a file is protected, the previous unprotected versions are deleted. When this happens, the check-in/check-out comments made by the users for the previous versions also get deleted.
SharePoint Online	OneNote files do not get protected	OneNote files created using the ‘New’ option in SharePoint Online do not get protected, as they are not saved in a ‘document’ format in SharePoint.
SharePoint Online	External users will not be able to access protected documents in Seclore Online in some scenarios	Due to a limitation from Microsoft, external users will not be able to open files in Seclore Online from SharePoint by clicking on the file name or using the right-click > Open with Seclore option. Such users can open the files in Seclore Online using the 'S' button next to the file under the 'Open with Seclore' column.
SharePoint Online	Files opened in Seclore Online remain checked out while open in the browser	Files opened in Seclore Online get checked out from SharePoint and remain checked out until the Seclore Online tab is closed in the browser. The file gets checked in as soon as the tab is closed.
SharePoint Online	Error displayed when external user tries to access protected documents via Sharepoint link	An error is displayed when external users open a protected file in Seclore Online using a link shared from SharePoint Online generated via the 'Copy link' - 'Anyone with the link' option. This behavior is also seen when internal and external users open a protected file from a folder that was shared with them from SharePoint Online using the 'Copy link' - 'Anyone with the link' option.
SharePoint Online	Unprotected HTML files	Unprotected HTML files cannot be opened from SharePoint Online.
SharePoint Online	S' icon not displayed for protected files	In the SharePoint Classic mode, the 'S' icon is not displayed in the 'Open with Seclore' column for protected files.
Microsoft Teams	Opening protected file from Teams web app	Users won't be able to open a protected file from the 'Posts' tab in Microsoft Teams (web app) by clicking on the file name.
Microsoft Teams	Opening protected file from Teams desktop app	Clicking on a Seclore-protected file to open it from Posts or Files tab in Teams channels will display the file in preview mode.
Microsoft Teams	Delay in loading the Seclore Tab	The Seclore Tab takes about 5-7 seconds to load once the user clicks on it.
Microsoft Teams	Clicking on the Teams link for a protected file will download the file	Clicking on the Teams links of a Seclore-protected (and HTML wrapped) file will download the file.
Microsoft Teams	Protected universal file formats won't open in desktop apps from Teams	Protected files of universal file formats (mp4, mp3, wma, dwg, etc.) won't open in desktop applications from Teams. Users will be prompted to download the file to open it.
Microsoft Teams	Image files opened from Teams can't be edited in desktop apps	Protected image file formats opened from Teams can't be edited in the desktop application. Users will see an error when they try to edit and save such files.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Emails and attachments cannot be sent when Shared mailbox is opened via ‘Open another mailbox’ option	Due to a Microsoft limitation, protected emails and attachments cannot be sent from a Shared Mailbox using the 'Open another mailbox' option.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Add-in is disabled for Shared Mailboxes in the new UI of Outlook for Mac	Due to a Microsoft limitation, the Seclore Email Protector for M365 add-in is disabled in Shared Mailboxes in the new UI of Outlook for Mac.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Users won't be prompted to use the Seclore Send button and not the Outlook Send button while sending protected emails	If users use the default Send button in Outlook to send emails, the emails would go unprotected. Due to a Microsoft limitation, users can't be prompted/reminded to use the Seclore Send button to send protected emails.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Protected emails cannot be sent when the add-in is switched to pop up view	Users won't be able to send protected emails when the Email Protector add-in is switched from pane view to pop-up view.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Contacting the server for information’ message is shown while sending protected emails	Users would see a message 'Contacting the server for information' for every attachment while sending a protected email using the Email Protector add-in from Outlook for Mac. Since this is an Outlook behavior, it cannot be removed.
Email Protector 3.0.0	Rules set for message body won't work for protected emails	Rules set for a message body won't work if the body is protected while sending the email.

Seclore for Microsoft Sensitivity Labels

Microsoft Office	Classification-driven protection is not available for files opened on the desktop from cloud	Automatic protection via Microsoft Sensitivity Labels isn’t available for files opened in desktop applications directly from SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
Microsoft Office	Classification-driven protection is not available for password-protected files	Automatic protection via Microsoft Sensitivity Labels isn’t available for files that are password protected. This is due to a limitation of the Microsoft Framework for files protected with an open password.

Seclore for Mac

All	No effect of clicking on update once the process is complete	At the time of updating Seclore for Mac, clicking on the update button will have no action if the update is already finished.
All	Menu options not translated to selected language	Seclore Context Menu options are not translated according to user's preferred languages.
Microsoft Office	Opening a protected file via hyperlink shows a buffer file	Only buffer file is shown on opening a protected file by clicking on hyperlink.
Outlook	Going offline after opening a protected email	When user goes offline after opening a protected email with protected attachments, the email gets decrypted but the sign in option is still shown.
Microsoft Office	Watermark configuration in Offline License of a file is refreshed only after opening the file online	When a file is opened online, its watermark configuration is stored in offline license for displaying watermark when the user is offline. This configuration won’t get updated when the user is offline. It will update when the same file is opened online again.
Seclore for MacOS	File not wrapped in a certain scenario	If a file is renamed from title bar in Excel which was saved as to OneDrive sync folder, it will not be wrapped upon closing.
Seclore for MacOS	File not wrapped in a certain scenario	Read-only HTML-wrapped files or HTML-wrapped files opened from read-only folders are not HTML-wrapped when saved with the 'Save as' function.

Hot Folder Server
